Thanksgiving 2008

Bear with me...I thought I would revisit Thanksgiving for a moment with the past few months having been crazy for me. Plus my computer has been in the shop and may be pronounced dead...ugh. We had Thanksgiving dinner at our house this year since my husband is just about the best turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce maker around and it gave our sister-in-law, Emma a break!

Thom wanted to try something different this year with both the turkey and a grilled veggie dish. He has been reading his Food and Wine magazine in hopes of finding something new. The grilled veggies were tossed in a basil pesto and turned out fabulous! It was the first time many of us had tried parsnips and they were quite yummy. The turkey idea which consisted of the turkey cavity being stuffed with several fresh herbs and garlic didn't work out well. Thom likes to cook our turkeys in our rotisserie and every time the turkey rotated around, the herbs and garlic fell out one by one...bummer. Plus we forgot to make the apricot glaze so it was a complete bust. Oh well! Maybe next year. It was still an amazing dinner and we had the pleasure to also host Thom's cousin Bobby and his wife from Louisiana. They brought us some wonderful fruit to enjoy!
